Design-Build
Backyard Design-Build in Columbus, Ohio
You do not have to build everything at once. You do have to plan everything at once. Our design-build master plans lay out the whole backyard, pool house, kitchen, patio, deck, and fire features, then phase construction around your budget so every stage lands right the first time and nothing gets torn up twice.

What we build
- Full backyard master plans with 3D design
- Phased construction schedules
- Pool house, kitchen, patio, and deck integration
- Utility planning done once, for every future phase
- One team across every trade, zero finger-pointing
What drives the cost
Master planning is how you control cost on a big backyard, not how you inflate it. What shapes the investment:
- Overall scope and number of phases
- Structures: pool houses and pavilions carry the most
- Utility runs sized for the end state, not just phase one
- Site conditions: grade, access, drainage, existing hardscape
- Material level across the plan
- How much you build now versus later
How smart phasing saves Central Ohio homeowners real money
Typical timeline
The plan takes weeks; the phases take seasons, on your schedule. Most clients build the anchor phase first, usually the patio and utilities, then add structures and features in later years without rework, because the plan already reserved their place.
Materials
Consistent materials across phases are what make a backyard read as one designed space instead of a collection of projects. The master plan locks the palette early: stone, decking, roofing, and finishes that will still match years later.
Permits and inspections
Phased projects live or die on sequencing: utilities, setbacks, and structures each carry their own approvals, and they differ by municipality. We map the permit path for the whole plan up front so each phase starts clean.
How it works
Consultation, design, build, enjoy. We meet at your home to talk vision, budget, and timeline. You get a custom 3D design and a detailed material proposal. Expert craftsmen build on a structured timeline, and we finish with a final walkthrough and full cleanup.
Where we work
Our base is on the west side of Columbus, and we serve everything within about 50 minutes of it, roughly a 40 mile range across Central Ohio. That covers Columbus, Dublin, Upper Arlington, Westerville, Powell, New Albany, Worthington, Hilliard, Gahanna, Bexley, Grandview Heights, Lewis Center, and Clintonville, plus Grove City, Reynoldsburg, Pickerington, Canal Winchester, Groveport, Blacklick, Pataskala, Granville, Newark, Johnstown, Delaware, Galena, Sunbury, Shawnee Hills, Plain City, Marysville, London, West Jefferson, Lancaster, and Circleville. If you are close but not on the list, call, the answer is probably yes.
Common questions
Why plan everything if I am only building a patio this year?
Because the patio decides where everything else can go. Utilities, grades, and footings placed for the master plan mean the pool house in year three does not require tearing up year one.
How do phases usually run?
A common arc: patio and utilities first, then the pergola or deck, then the kitchen, then the pool house. Yours depends on how you live outside; the plan makes the order deliberate.
Does a master plan lock me in?
No. It reserves space and capacity. Plans flex as life changes; the point is that early phases never block later ones.
Is design included?
Yes. Every project starts with a custom 3D design and a detailed material proposal, and a master plan extends that to the whole yard.
One contractor for everything, really?
That is the model: one dedicated Columbus team across every trade, one point of accountability from first handshake to final walkthrough.
