Plan your basement or home theater
01

Planning your schedule

The schedule follows the agreed layout, existing conditions, selections, approvals, and trade work. We discuss access, working hours, material lead times, and construction stages before setting a project schedule.

02

Finishes that fit the room

We select flooring, wall and ceiling finishes, cabinetry, and lighting around the room's use and existing conditions. A theater needs different light and sound planning than a family room or bar. Mechanical equipment, shutoffs, and storage remain part of the layout.

03

Permits and inspections

We review the planned use, existing space, and local approval requirements before construction. The layout and any electrical, plumbing, or HVAC work need to be coordinated with that review. Written project documents identify drawings, application, inspection, and fee responsibilities.

Straight answers

Basement and home theater questions

Can you finish an unfinished basement?

Yes. We start with a walkthrough to understand the existing space, moisture history, utilities, ceiling layout, and the rooms you want. That gives us the information to plan the work and prepare a project-specific proposal.

Can you build a basement movie theater, man cave, or game room?

Yes. We build dedicated basement movie theaters, custom man caves, and game rooms. For a home theater, we plan seating, TV or projector placement, lighting, storage, and finishes together. Equipment, wiring, and sound-control requirements are identified in the scope before walls and ceilings are closed.

Can a basement include a home bar or bathroom?

Yes, where the existing conditions and utility plan support it. A dry bar focuses on cabinetry, counters, and appliance space. A wet bar or bathroom also needs plumbing and ventilation planning, with the applicable work handled by our established licensed trade partners.

How much does basement finishing cost?

We prepare a quote after reviewing the space and scope. Existing conditions, square footage, finishes, utilities, bathrooms, bars, and custom features all affect the price. The free consultation is the starting point for a written proposal.

What if my basement has moisture or water problems?

Tell us about water entry, dampness, or previous repairs during the walkthrough. Those conditions need to be evaluated and the required corrective work identified before new finishes are installed. We do not treat covering a problem as a repair.

Do you handle the project with the same crew?

PrimeBuild's construction crew handles the build, with the same established licensed electrical, plumbing, and HVAC partners we use across our projects. Alex and Alan are your primary contacts, and the work follows one coordinated scope and schedule.

Do basement projects need permits?

Requirements depend on the location and work. We review the planned use and alterations with the applicable approval process before construction, including any utility work. Your written project documents identify the permit and inspection responsibilities.
